Finally found a 7.5" SRH on GB at the same time I had a little money to part with so it's on the way. I'll primararliy be using it for handgun hunting, mainly moose & black bear unless I somehow luck into a unit 15 brownie tag.
Who has experience with the round & what insite can you offer?
I have all the compenents ready for reloading (Have 200 365gr Performance Cast HC bullets to start with) & dies should be here next week about the time the gun gets here.

Pass the word on quickly before the site monitor thinks this is an issue under Game Management and moves it, because he hasn't figured out the difference between management and allocation.

This issue is about money to the State and renewable resource developers, plus what some consider the "quality of the hunt". Big Game allocation is only a function of the Board of Game.

Preparing to buy some wood for the interior of the cabin, oddly enough I can get T&G pine at Lowes for about the same price as I've found T&G birch (3/8"). As to the floor I was considering Bamboo. For the bathroom I was thinking T&G Cedar. But as I think of these mixtures I wonder if mixing wood and color will look like a shack rather than a cabin. Anyone seen walls with pine, ceiling in birch and yet another wood type for the floor? Imagine it all comes down to color, but looking for some opinions and experiences of others before I start to buy things.

Looking for studied and/or knowledgeable opinions: I want a battle rifle. I don't want a .223 or 5.56mm. I really like the PTR-91, but the FAL feels better in my hands. Alternatively, I could by a CETME and 5000 rounds of ammo for less than just the PTR or FAL...

I've used the M-4 in enough situations to develop strong (very, very strong) opinions on it's usefulness (or lack thereof) in a tactical environment but I don't have any first-hand experience with the 7.62mm in anything other than the M-60 and M-249.

I know Ken and Murphy agree to disagree on the M1A vs. the FAL, but I couldn't find anything comparing the three guns I'm trying to decide between. So...let me know what you think, why you think it, and if you've got another option (AR-10?) feel free to throw it out for discussion.

Thanks,

I remember the saddle soap and neatsfoot oil of years ago but I'm wondering if there is any newer and better products out there that work even better? Any input from anyone that has experience on treating old dry leather will be appreciated.

I've thought of this possibility for a few years now, but was wondering others thoughts on this.

Think he's out there? What species would it be?

Current records are as follow:

Barren Ground: 477

Quebec-Lab: 474 6/8

Mountain Caribou: 453

I doubt the other two species recognized by the Boone and Crockett club have the gumption to make it. The percentage increases arent that large, but the Barren ground would have to make up ANOTHER 23 inches!!

On another note, what about a 200 inch Dall?

Current record: 189 6/8

So my booner continues to lie flat on the basement floor...but not for long!!

No, not in my house, but my buddy has graciously accepted to hang it in his house. The rug has some sawdust (from someone working down there :() and just needs a good cleaning.

I've been told to get a metal comb and with a vacuum, brush the hair backwards and suck the crap off the fur, and then comb the hair back down flat. My initial thoughts were that a vacuum would have too much suction and might damage the hide some, but with a slotted attachment on a hose (yeah, thats right, I'm not going to vacuum my bear rug like my carpet) it might be be mild enough....

Anyone else have a better method? Pretty sure this would work, just looking for ideas...(or idears if your from 'back east')

I dont know a whole lot about this rifle other than it is worth some money and is extremely accurate. I have done a little research on it and belive it has a 2oz trigger pull. I was hoping to search the serial number and find out more, but cannot find a website that will search that. Should I just write Remington???

Anybody with advice or experience with this rifle or a website for a serial number search would be appreciated.
